Harold Pinter wins Nobel Literature Prize
I remember reading the ‘Birthday Party’ at 19, because no one else wanted to the review the book. The cover was glossy and the pages were crisp, indicating how new it was. Or rather, how the book was hardly read.
After reading the book, I harboured the secret wish of going to London and being able to watch a Pinter play performed on stage.
I am glad he finally has the recognition he deserves, though the cynical part of me just thinks that his plays would finally be borrowed out more frequently here and sales for his books would increase.
