Tea with Mussolini

Published February 8, 2010 by akiko

Until recently, Cova Pasticceria-Confetteria was just this mythical place that sent lovely desserts to our food reviewer in the office.

But the pastries were always rich and the tarts a tad too well…tarty, for the lack of a better word, for my liking.

Having ventured into that world, it could not have been more inviting.

With old-world decor and oozing with class and charm from every niche of its retail space in Paragon Orchard, there was something about it that I cannot forget.

Other than the delectable desserts and the great company, I could not get the opulence, style and beauty of the place out of my mind.

Of course, maybe with the melee of emotions, there was one in particular that surfaced, ‘I wonder what the Milan man would think of this place?’

That is naturally a dangerous thought, almost akin with the danger that one would have if one were to dine with Mussolini. But hey, while it is one thing to entertain such thoughts, it is another to live dangerously.

Anyway, back Cova Pasticceria – Confetteria, which entered our fair shores by the way of Milan. There is something about the place which makes me want to go back for more.

And explore it I will at my own leisure and pace.

In the meantime, I think I will sip some wine and try to write in my moleskin notebook while listening to some slow jazz because I have just seen some hideous pictures of bad design and I need to get the images out of my mind before I go to sleep.
