Dark Knight

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stranger.”

-Joker in Dark Knight

The Dark Knight was all about duality, and I loved it.

Prince Caspian

Watching ‘Prince Caspian’ has thrown me into dilemma of sorts.

On one hand, I thought the movie was highly entertaining and enjoyable. Read the rest of this entry »

RIP Heath Ledger

January 24, 2008 at 11:56 pm (Entertainment, Miscellaneous Memos)

He was the Perth boy who allowed everyone there to dream, through the magic of his movies, or just through hope.

Such a sad lost.

JET concert at Fort Canning

JET
I know I am a little late with this entry, and what should have been a concert that took place last month, is still freshly etched in my mind, as though it was just yesterday.

Back to your regular scheduled programmes

May 8, 2007 at 12:08 am (Day to day living, Entertainment, Miscellaneous Memos)

I am so exhausted.

The celebrity I have been trailing is leaving Singapore. *dances and whoops with joy*

It has been a tiring few days. And no offence to the media-savvy celebrity, but I think I have heard his songs played ‘live’, much more than I have heard them on the radio. Granted that the radio stations I listen to, don’t play his music.

I have spoken way more Mandarin in these past few days, than I have done in the same time frame in school.

As a reward, I am going to go and buy Michael Ondaatje’s latest novel, Divisadero, and hole myself up to read it. I reckon I deserve it.

It is not to say the whole celebrity-trailing episode has been bad. I learnt a few things, experienced some highs, and met an incredibly talented Japanese journalist, whom I have utmost respect for.

I just don’t look forward to the post production work I have to do in the office.

Wandering the rain-swept streets

December 11, 2006 at 2:09 am (Day to day living, Entertainment)

The monsoon season has claimed us once again, with all her full glory of cool nights, cloudy skies, and the wet chaos she unleashes from time to time.

I cannot begin to express how much I like this season, not that there are much seasons here in Singapore to compare with. But it is all there, the cooler temperatures make me somewhat more calm, and yields a fresher (both literally and figuratively) view to things.

L’esprit d’escalier

November 21, 2006 at 4:24 pm (Day to day living, Entertainment)

‘The wit of the staircase’ or l’esprit d’escalier, which in French, means the perfect witty response or quip that one can think of, usually only after the conversation has ended. It could be on the staircase, on the way out of the place, or even a few days later.

Whatever the circumstance, it usually hits one with the lightning bolt clarity with the regard of slapping one’s forehead with the words ‘why didn’t I think of that before?’

I suffer from l’esprit d’escalier. A lot. Read the rest of this entry »

Ship Ahoy!

November 11, 2006 at 2:56 am (Entertainment, Travel and Living)

We went to a boat party on Saturday, one of those with themes, where everyone dresses up in costume, such as witches, vampires, ghosts and ghouls.

It was mostly the expat set that the party was catered to, and for a moment it felt like one of those mad uni parties I used to attend down under. Of course, this was more of an international crowd (by ‘international’ I mean more nationalities than just Aussies.)

We hopped on the boat at the Marina South Pier, which is impossible to get to; unless you have a car, want to pay for the cab ride there, or manage to find the feeder bus to take you there. Read the rest of this entry »
